Dynamic Text

Starting with Crystal Delivery version 10.3.2, Dynamic Text within exported files is now supported.

Without Dynamic Text, files will continuously be overwritten.

For example, on the Export Directory tab, if you select the folder to export a file and name the export file Top Products.pdf, each time the export occurs, the file is overwritten.

If you need to keep individual files for each export, Dynamic Text can be used to accomplish this. Simply appending one of the support dynamic text to the filename will append the date/time information to each exported file, making it unique, and thus not overwritten.

Add Dynamic Text to Filename

1. From the Export Directory tab, click Select Folder
2. Choose the directory to save the exported files
3. Give the file a name to be exported as
   • Be sure to add one of the dynamic text as shown below
     
4. Click Save

Now when the file export occurs, your file will have unique date/time information added to the filename.

Supported Dynamic Text

[yyyy] This will add a 4 digit year to the filename (i.e. 2017)

[MM] This will add a 2 digit month to the filename (i.e. 08)

[dd] This will add a 2 digit day to the filename (i.e. 30)

[HH] This will add a 2 digit hour to the filename in 24-Hour Format (i.e. 19 = 7pm)

[hh] This will add a 2 digit hour to the filename in 12-Hour Format (i.e. 07 = 7pm)

[mm] This will add a 2 digit minute to the filename (i.e. 15)

[ss] This will add a 2 digit second to the filename (i.e. 22)

[tt] This will add a CAPITALIZED AM or PM to the filename

Existing Dynamic Text Options

[G] Displays a date and/or time. For example, 4/3/93 05:34 PM. Date display is determined by your system's LocaleID value.

[D] Displays a date according to your locale's long date format.

[T] Displays a time using your locale's long time format; typically includes hours, minutes, seconds.

[t] Displays a time using your locale's short time format.

[f] Displays the long date and short time according to your locale's format.

[F] Displays the long date and long time according to your locale's format.

[g] Displays the short date and short time according to your locale's format.

[r] Formats the date and time as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

[s] Formats the date and time as a sortable index.

[u] Formats the date and time as a GMT sortable index.

[U] Formats the date and time with the long date and long time as GMT.
